UPDATE: The ACC announced that the Texas vs. North Carolina State men’s basketball game inside PNC Arena will tip off on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 9:15 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2, with Auburn at Duke at 9:15 p.m. It will also be broadcast simultaneously on ESPN.
North Carolina State and Texas will be one of the final games that could determine the outcome of the second ACC-SEC Challenge. Other games scheduled for the night include Alabama vs. UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Virginia vs. Florida, Vanderbilt vs. Virginia Tech, and University of Pittsburgh vs. Mississippi State.

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State will be the first ACC team to play one of the newest members of the SEC in this year’s ACC/SEC Challenge. The Wolfpack will host Texas State inside PNC Arena this winter.
Coach Kevin Keatts’ team adds this to an already tough non-conference schedule that includes a trip to Kansas State and two games against either Purdue, BYU or Ole Miss in the Rady Children’s Invitational. I will add it. By playing this game at home against a team that could be ranked in the top 30 in the country, the Pack could potentially play multiple games in Quad I before competing in the ACC.
Texas is not considered a top-25 finisher in most preseason polls, but they were a strong team under Rodney Terry, reaching the Elite Eight and the second round of the NCAA Tournament in his first two years. . Isaac Trotter of 247Sports believes the Longhorns should be considered as a team just outside the top 25 heading into the 2024-25 season.
Tyrese Hunter, Kadyn Shedrick and Chendal Weaver will start the rotation. Five-star Trey Johnson and his No. 10 recruiting class are a bonus, but Rodney and Terry have to go big-game hunting in the portal again.
The Wolfpack will have big question marks as well, having lost three-fifths of their starting lineup for next season. But while elite transfers like Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, Dontrez Styles, Marcus Hill, and Mike James have all been added to the roster, players like Michael O’Connell, Ben Middlebrooks, Dennis Parker Jr., and Jaden Taylor With the returns coming in to compete for those spots, this is a roster that has the makings of an ACC and national contender this season.
This is the second year of the challenge, and the first to include 16 games with new teams added in both conferences. California will play its first game against Missouri, but SMU and Stanford will not be participating in the ACC this year.
