A Texas man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a woman after paying her $10 for sex, police said.
Suspect Yons Al-Shaabi, 32, was recently arrested in connection with the case. Crystal Daniels, 41, was found dead in a Dallas shopping mall parking lot on July 9.
According to Fox 4, police used surveillance footage from a nearby store to identify Alshabi’s car in the parking lot around the time of the murder.
Al-Shaabi initially reported to police that his car had been stolen.
But he later admitted that he planned to pick up Daniels and pay her $70 to have sex with her at a nearby motel, according to the report, and then he became concerned about a truck that he thought was following the pair.
The suspect told officers he gave Daniels $10 and told him to get out of the car.
Alshabi reportedly told police that Daniels refused to get out of his car, leading to a fight and the gun firing.
He then said he dragged her body from the car and left her in the parking lot.
Investigators said a $10 bill was found in Daniels’ hand when her body was discovered, Fox 4 reported.
Al-Shaabi was taken to jail and remains in custody on $1 million bail.
