Texas entered the race less than two weeks ago. The Longhorns offered the four-star cornerback from Tampa (Fla.) Wiregrass Ranch on Nov. 1. Grayson Littleton rescinded his commitment to Clemson and took official visits to Michigan and Texas over the past two weekends. He has seen everything there is to see, and Littleton has given his all to the Longhorns.
“I committed to Texas and made my final decision last night,” Littleton told On3. “I chose Texas because of their current stability and culture. Their defensive scheme is a great fit for me as well. Over the last four years they have continued to grow and have added great players. I feel like I can continue to grow there.”
Adding another cornerback to this class is a big deal for Steve Sarkisian and company, as the No. 99 overall prospect in the On3 industry rankings is set to play in the SEC.
That visit last weekend was a game-changer for Littleton and his family.
“Austin was good,” Littleton told On3. “I had never been there before so I had no idea what it would be like. I didn’t know there was a facility in town. The culture was good. I got to interact with current players and learn more about the program. I’m glad I was able to hear your opinion.
“The highlights were attending player meetings, talking to some of the players, going to the games, and going out to dinner with my family and staff.”
Multiple coaches were involved in Littleton’s recruitment. Things moved quickly, but defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, secondary coach Terry Joseph and Sarkisian all played a role.
“They have a plan for me. They think I fit into their defensive scheme and can be a ballplayer in the secondary. Texas has been scouting me heavily since the offer. , Texas was my choice and the reason they took me on that visit was because of their defense plan and program success.”
