Friday night’s matchup with the Mustangs begins at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday’s showdown with the Pioneers at 2 p.m.

West Texas A&M continued its defense of the Lone Star Conference Championship during the final weekend of the regular season, sitting atop the league standings as the only undefeated team. The Lady Buffs remained in sixth place in the latest edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top. In the poll released Monday afternoon, WT ranks 6th in the nation in offensive percentage (.277), 28th in kills per set (13.80) and 31st in offensive power. Ranked 37th in assists per set (12.64) and blocks per set (2.28). Tatum Stowe ranks 28th in the nation in blocks per set (1.22) but ranks 36th in total blocks (104). The Lady Buffs are currently on a 15-game winning streak, dating back to a four-set loss to Angelo State in Dallas on Sept. 20. Since that match, the Lady Buffs have lost only three of 48 sets in 12 matches of at least three sets. The 15-game winning streak is the eighth-longest active winning streak in Division II volleyball: Ferris State (26), Point Loma (21), Spring Hill (19), St. Cloud State (19), Cal Poly. – Pomona (18), West Florida (18) and Wingate (16) Midwest State
The Mustangs defeated the Texas women in four sets in Denton last Saturday afternoon, improving to 6-8 in league play and entering the weekend with an overall record of 14-13.
Riley Labedeau, a native of Poulsbo, Wash., led the Mustangs’ offense with 294 kills (3.20/set) on 853 swings, 93 attack errors and a season batting average of .236.
Stephanie Radecki is in her third season at the helm of the Midwest State volleyball program and will be named the 10th head coach in program history in April 2022. She comes to MSU after serving four seasons as the head coach at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Friday night will be the 44th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Mustangs on the hardwood, with WT favored 42-1 in the series dating back to 1980. Midwest State is 0-20 overall in their last meeting at Canyon. A trip to the Panhandle is scheduled for 2023.

The Pioneers are 11-3 against LSC and 18-7 overall after losing in four sets to Midwest State last Saturday afternoon in Denton. TWU is ranked No. 5 in the initial South Central Regional rankings.
Tori Woods, from Brookston, Indiana, leads the way offensively with 275 kills (3.27/set) on 796 swings, 110 attacking errors and a .207 attacking percentage.
Jessica Ransom is in her first season as the head coach of the TWU volleyball program, having spent the past six seasons leading the Texas Wesleyan Rams. Texas Wesleyan qualified for the NAIA Tournament for the sixth straight season as Ransom was named the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Saturday afternoon marked the 61st meeting between the Lady Buffs and Pioneers on the court, with the Wildcats now 52-8 in the series dating back to 1980. The Texas women have lost their last two trips, resulting in an overall record of 2 wins and 27 losses at Canyon. To The Box.

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA volleyball. WTAMU Fieldhouse, affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to 21 Lone Star Conference championships, 16 regional titles, and four NCAA Division II national championships.
The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA at all levels of competition. The Lady Buffs are 547-84 in the box since the 1980 season, an impressive winning percentage of 86.7%.

Cavanaugh put together an all-around game as West Texas A&M extended its winning streak to 15 games with road wins over Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The freshman outside hitter hit .400 with 23 kills on 45 swings and five attack errors over the weekend, adding five blocks, 24 digs, an assist and an ace for 26.5 points (set 3.79 points). She opened with 12 kills and 25 digs against TAMIU, her seventh double-double of the year, followed by a night of 11 kills and nine digs against TAMUK.

The top six teams in the standings will play each other at least once in the final two games.League-leading West Texas A&M will play the Texas Women (T-4th place) on Saturday after Friday’s game as they battle for the championship. They will play against Western State University (10th place). postseason spot. A major travel partner weekend will see No. 4 DBU and No. 2 UT Tyler stop by No. 2 Angelo State and No. 6 Lubbock Christian Friday through Saturday. Oklahoma Christian, ranked No. 7, will host the University of Texas Permian Basin, tied for No. 8 with St. Mary’s, one of two teams right behind it in the standings. MSU, Texas A&M-Kingsville (T-11th) and Texas A&M International (T-11th) are looking for wins to stay in the league.

For the first time since the 2019 season, the Lady Buffs are under the guidance of a new head coach, as Brittany Harry was named the 16th leader of WT Volleyball on March 19, 2024.
Harry, the 2022 Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, served as the head coach at Texas A&M International for the past four seasons and has been instrumental in the growth of the TAMIU program. . In 2022, Harry set a program record with 23 wins and led the Dust Devils to the LSC postseason for the second time in school history. She led her team to the best turnaround in all of NCAA Division II volleyball with a +18 win differential from 2021-2022.

The Lady Buffs are ranked No. 6 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 poll. This is the 313th time the Lady Buffs have been on the ballot since 1986, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has topped the polls 28 times.
