St. David Medical Center in Austin maintained its ranking as the No. 10 hospital in Texas and the No. 1 hospital in the Austin region by U.S. News & World Report.
These awards are included in U.S. News’ 2024-25 rankings of America’s Best Hospitals. The hospitals are also ranked in various specialties, including orthopedics, cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, cancer, neurology and neurosurgery.
The rankings ranked Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin as the 15th-best hospital in Texas, tying it with Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest in Fort Worth. For 2023, the hospital is tied with Methodist Dallas Medical Center for 12th place.
St. David’s South Austin Medical Center was ranked 23rd in a tie with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, South Texas Health System – Edinburg and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.
Meanwhile, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Temple was ranked seventh in Texas.
The best hospital in Texas is based in Houston
MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston once again tops the list of the best cancer hospitals in the U.S. Since U.S. News began its annual hospital survey in 1990, MD Anderson has been ranked as one of the two best hospitals in the country for cancer care, marking the 10th consecutive year that the organization has maintained its No. 1 position.
“MD Anderson’s mission is clear: to eradicate cancer,” MD Anderson President Peter W. T. Pisters said in a news release. “This ranking reflects our relentless commitment to excellence in patient care, research, prevention and education.”
MD Anderson is also recognized for excellence in three areas of expertise:
Ranked 2nd in ENT. Ranked 9th in Urology. Ranked 14th in Gastroenterology/Gastrointestinal Surgery.
“MD Anderson’s consistent ranking as one of the top in the nation for providing compassionate, evidence-based care is a testament to our dedication to the people we serve,” Pisters said.
For the 13th consecutive year, Houston Methodist Hospital has been named the overall best hospital in Texas and one of the top 20 hospitals in the nation for the eighth consecutive time. In addition to its overall ranking, Houston Methodist Hospital also received high scores in 10 specialties, including diabetes and endocrinology (No. 6), gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery (No. 7) and pulmonology and pulmonary surgery (No. 8).
