Arch Manning played well last weekend in his first collegiate start as quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, but it was his uncle who had the last laugh on Monday.
Manning, a redshirt freshman, led his team to a 51-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. Manning had 258 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the win. He called it a “C-plus” performance despite the blowout loss.

“I don’t think anybody here expected him to go out there and play a perfect game,” Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian said, via ESPN. “I thought he prepared really well, practiced really hard and did everything he could to play good football. I think he’s going to learn some lessons and I think that was the theme of tonight’s game.”
On Sunday, the SEC Network posted a graphic on X about the starting performances of the Manning family’s football players in their debut games.
Archie Manning made his first start at Ole Miss in 1968, passing for 116 yards, two touchdown passes and one interception. Peyton Manning made his first start at Tennessee in 1994, passing for 79 yards. The former New York Giants quarterback had impressive debuts.
