AUSTIN, Texas – Texas State baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle was officially inducted as a member of the Class of 2025 on Friday during the 81st ABCA Annual Convention at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. He was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Induction to the ABCA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the American Baseball Coaches Association, and Schlossnagle joins four other Longhorn greats to earn this honor. Billy Disch, Viv Faulk, Cliff Gustafson and Augie Garrido are all inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame.
Schlossnagl compiled a 946-455 (.675) record over 23 seasons as a head coach, including 18 years at TCU, three seasons at Texas A&M and two seasons at UNLV. Contains.
In addition to leading the Aggies to their best record in Omaha in 2024, Schlossnagl led the A&M team to a combined record of 135-62 (.685), won the SEC Western Division title, and led the team to the college Led them to the World Series. 2022, his first year in office.
Schlossnagl previously captained TCU’s baseball program from 2004 to 2021, compiling a record of 734-346 (.680) and becoming the winningest coach in program history. Prior to joining TCU, he coached two seasons at UNLV, where he compiled a 77-47 (.621) record and secured an NCAA Tournament berth.
Mr. Schlossnagle’s honors include 2010 NCBWA National Coach of the Year, 2016 Baseball America National Coach of the Year, and 2015 Big 12 National Coach of the Year. In addition to being named Coach of the Year, he has been named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year seven times.
An ABCA member for 33 years, he also served as ABCA President in 2023 and remains an active member of the association’s Board of Directors. He also serves on several ABCA committees, including the Competition Committee, Collegiate Competition Rules Committee, and Executive Committee.
Schlossnagl’s early career included a successful stint as an associate head coach at Tulane, where he helped the team to six NCAA regional appearances, as well as assistant coaching roles at Clemson and Elon. He also coached the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2013 and served as an assistant coach for Team USA in 2016.
