Texas Tech suffered a major injury in Saturday’s game against the TCU Horned Frogs. According to the FOX broadcast, starting QB Behren Morton injured his left shoulder. He left the game early in the second half and headed to the locker room. Morton was seen leaving the field with trainers and medical staff. He had a towel over his head and his paws were completely undressed.
Late in the third quarter, FOX broadcasts updated him on his status, saying he would not return to the game at all on Saturday. Morton was not dressed when he returned to the Red Raiders’ sideline late in the third quarter.
Texas Tech QB Behren Morton injury update
“Yes, it looks like Behren Morton got injured late in the first half. He injured that shoulder. That’s all I really said about the injury. But he walked off the field screaming in anger over the injury. Looking at him, I can tell you the frustration I see is that the team is doing just fine without him. Of course he wants to support his guys. I don’t think he will return to the game,” a FOX sideline reporter pointed out.
Morton has been great for the Red Raiders this season, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 1,926 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. In 2023, he completed 62.1% of his passes for 1,754 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Morton is listed as the No. 15 quarterback prospect in the country for the 2021 cycle, according to On3 industry rankings.
