Allen Fieldhouse was not happy with the remaining foul call after just a few seconds of the team’s loss this weekend. But Bill Self doesn’t think it’s worth complaining too much now about how it unfolded from there.
Kansas discussed selfies about the foul that Kansas hoped would have 20 seconds left in Saturday’s 78-73 loss to the Red Raiders. He doesn’t feel there’s a foul there, but said it came after a discussion between the two judges.
“I have a perspective. I didn’t think he was fouled,” Self said. “You know, one official saw it one way, another saw it the other. I don’t think he was fouled.”
But considering Texas Tech is out of range for their next play, Self said it was all evenly equal in the end, and the Jayhawks didn’t make the most of it.
“I got the ball back anyway, so honestly, he might have been fouled the second time, so, um, that was probably balanced,” Self said. “He wasn’t fouled, which means that’s a bad call. But we got the ball back because you can’t b**** about the call.”
“We got the ball back, but obviously they did a good job of taking the first three of the corners. I wish we had just driven it, but even so, we tried to play it. “This time, I didn’t (call time out). We thought we were just getting two, but it didn’t work.”
With 20 seconds left inbound, Rylan Griffen was asked to foul on Elijah Hawkins, just before the Jayhawks bench, where they and the crowd disagreed. Still, they haven’t fallen into the bonus yet, so Texas technology had to inbound again, falling out of range at the time. Kansas lowered the ball to 3 but continues to lose five as the seconds go by as they missed a 3-pointer from Zeke Mayo.
The self had no opinion on it as fans were throwing things to court due to Griffen’s foul.
“Well, I don’t have a perspective on throwing anything because I didn’t know what was going on,” the self said.
Kansas was not satisfied with its whi, as was the advantage of the home court. Still, they still got a chance and ultimately got their 10th loss of this season, and did nothing at all with the big 12 in total, Lawrence.
