This action was the result of multiple hints on ongoing criminal activity in the game room.
BEUMONT, Texas – The offices of police, deputies and Texas Secretary have closed both Jasper’s permitted game rooms after complaints spurred a joint compliance investigation.
According to Jasper Police Chief Garrett W. Foster, the operation led by the Jasper Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office targets JSGB entertainment at 2416 North Wheerer St. and JSGB Entertainment 702 South Wheeler St. and multiple regulations. The violation has been revealed.
“These two game rooms have been found to violate multiple local and state regulations,” Foster said in a statement. “The investigation reveals several legal violations, resulting in both facilities being reviewed for potential civil penalties and criminal charges being considered.”
According to Foster, the operation was the result of multiple hints on ongoing criminal activity at the facility it received.
The investigation was conducted by the Jasper Police Department in cooperation with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Commissioner’s Office of Criminal Investigations and the Jasper County District Attorney’s Office, Foster reported. Jasper city’s drug/deputy department was also involved in the operation.
“The Jasper Police Department is dedicated to maintaining a safe environment for our community by eliminating illegal operations that lead to other criminal activities such as drug trafficking, theft and robbery,” Foster said. .
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Hubbard showed the investigation is expanding beyond Jasper City limits. According to Havard, lawmakers are currently making additional checks in game rooms throughout the county.
Foster reported that authorities are urging the public to report suspicious activity as the investigation continues. The two locations shut down were the only games room allowed to operate within Jasper City’s restrictions.
