COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Brazos County will host county judges and commissioners from across Texas this week for the Northeast Texas County Judges & Commissioners Association Annual Conference and Business Meeting, which will be held July 15-18 at Kyle Field.
The conference will provide a forum for county officials to discuss a variety of important topics, including environmental issues and county investment policies. According to the Texas Association of Counties (TAC), the gathering is intended to provide valuable insight and assistance to the operations of county government and assist county commissioners in serving the people of Texas.
Following the meeting, Brazos County officials announced that there would be no county commission meetings this week.
According to TAC, the event will provide educational sessions as well as opportunities for networking and camaraderie among officers. Attendees can take part in activities such as a sporting clays tournament, a cornhole tournament and a dominoes tournament on Wednesday afternoon. Social events such as a Presidential Welcome Reception on Monday and a Brazos County Host Court Night on Tuesday will add to the experience.
The conference’s host organization, the Texas Association of Counties, has a longstanding mission to unite counties for better solutions and promote the values of county government throughout the state. Founded in 1969, TAC represents every Texas county and its officials, conveying county perspectives to state leaders and the public. The association’s efforts help counties maintain their ability to effectively serve their residents.
The TAC Board of Directors, comprised of current local government officials, governs the Association’s collaborative activities. The Board sets policy, scope of services and budget, ensuring TAC stays responsive to the changing needs of Texas counties.
More information about the meeting and its agenda can be found on the TAC website.
