Mississippi State transfer defensive back Bryce Pollock committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Friday night, according to On3’s Hayes Forsett. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back had 72 tackles, 10 passes defended, one forced fumble and one interception in two years with the Bulldogs. According to On3 rankings, Pollock is currently ranked among the top five corners in the portal.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs last year. Pollock, a Georgia native and former Shiloh High School player, starred in the majors last season, recording 24 tackles and 0.5 TFL. This year, Pollock was a shutdown corner with 48 tackles, 10 passes defended, 1 interception, 1.0 TFL, and 1 forced fumble, making him arguably the most productive corner in the state.
Pollock was originally scheduled to go to Pittsburgh during the recruiting process, but the Bulldogs acquired him on signing day in 2022.
He took away what was supposed to be a key piece for Mississippi State’s defense, which was locked into a unit that had to grow significantly in 2025. Coleman Hutzler has been narrowed down to a few players he can build around in the transfer portal, which now opens the door for a key addition for the coach heading into next year.
Pollock became the fourth MSU player to announce his intention to enter the portal on Tuesday (Dec. 3) alone. He follows LB Ty Cooper, John Lewis and DL Gabe Moore.
Texas Tech had a great season this year, going 8-4 overall. They had very good offensive numbers, including a 3,000-yard passer (Behren Morton), a 1,500-yard rusher (Taj Brooks), and a 1,000-yard receiver (Josh Kelley). The Red Raiders will face the University of Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl.
