Local seniors at Country Lane invite community members to help make Christmas wishes come true and hope for a holiday miracle.
TEMPLE, Texas — At Country Lane, a 55+ community, Christmas is more than just another day. It’s a moment of pure magic, carefully crafted by our dedicated staff who understand that sometimes one gift can mean everything.
Community Manager Jose Lugo has been coordinating this holiday tradition.
“Older people are often forgotten, pushed aside, and sometimes even marginalized,” Lugo explains.
With 75 gifts still needed, the community is hoping temple residents can help.
“Most of our residents have no relatives living in Temple,” Lugo said. “This will probably be my only present for Christmas this year.”
The purpose of the drive is not to give you an expensive gift. Instead, it’s important to have thoughtful, meaningful gifts that bring joy and practical comfort to seniors. This year’s wishlist includes unique items such as:
Boot Tray to Keep Pouch Clean Handmade Scarf Diamond Art Kit Practical and Gender Neutral Gift
Lugo says the moment of gift giving was truly magical.
“It’s like watching a child on Christmas morning,” he says. “When they become seniors, they become kids again. It’s amazing to see the pure joy on their faces.”
The community invites Central Texas residents to get involved in a variety of ways.

Despite challenges like the tornadoes and hailstorms that hit the area earlier this year, the community remains hopeful. Local businesses and organizations are already stepping up their efforts, but more support is needed.
“We want to give back to those who have given us so much,” Lugo says.
