WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A local health coach who specializes in weight loss for women says the key to achieving your New Year’s health goals lies more in your mindset than in food or the gym.
Jenny McCormick, owner of Master Your Life Forever, has coached thousands of men and women toward their fitness goals over the past 16 years. She is currently focused on online coaching and says that clients who are able to maintain their weight loss have one common characteristic: a complete change in mindset.
“If you want to lose weight long-term, it doesn’t matter what you eat right now, how you move right now, or whether you can maintain your weight long enough,” McCormick says. “It’s about making some changes in your mindset to help you become someone who can maintain this weight.”
McCormick’s program focuses on teaching clients about boosting their metabolism to lose weight. She primarily helps women personalize their programs and provides one-on-one coaching and home training.
She says that while exercise and a calorie deficit are essential for weight loss, long-term success doesn’t just start in the brain.
Although her clients have experienced many positive results, McCormick says that for some people, it can be difficult to keep losing weight unless they are comfortable with the idea of failure.
Jenny says canceling the program or abandoning plans early on is not the answer.
“Practice forgiveness right away,” she said. “You don’t feel bad if you once had a bad meal or missed a workout once. That means you’re a human being like the rest of us. The important thing is to keep going. Keep going. Let’s go. Allow the mistake to exist. Admit it and move on.”
