TEMPLE, Texas — The Central Texas community is mourning the loss of Chris Radcliffe, who dedicated more than 20 years to uplifting those around him. Known for his contagious spirit and dedication to service, Chris’ presence was felt on and off the air and touched the lives of countless people.
Chris was more than a familiar face at KCEN. He was a fixture at community events, from dusting off his cowboy boots at country-themed gatherings to modeling dazzling bras at the American Cancer Society’s annual Bra Brunch. His willingness to take on any role highlighted his deep-rooted love for the community.
“He was kind, loved listening to people’s stories, and was genuinely interested in what we were doing,” American Cancer Society volunteer Karen Dungan said. “It wasn’t just about Chris. He wanted to share the goodness in everyone with the rest of the community.”
Chris’ commitment to giving back was evident through his involvement with various local organizations. From volunteering at local hospitals to supporting the Salvation Army, his dedication never wavered.
Marcine Chambers, President of the Salvation Army, said: “It was always special to see Chris at our annual Boots and Bandanas event. He can work hard and yet have so much fun, and he embodies that spirit. “It was,” he said.
Chris’ warm personality and dad jokes brought joy to many.
“He was a man’s man with a true love for his family,” Chambers said. “His role on camera was more than just a job. The community was his family.”
The impact of Chris’ death is profound, as reflected in the heartfelt condolences from friends and colleagues.
“His legacy will continue to inspire and impact our community and beyond,” said United Way Interim CEO Vechel Green. “Chris had a kind heart and was an inspiration to so many people without even realizing it.”
Cerise Thompson, owner of Precious Memories Flower Shop, cherished her friendship with Chris for more than 15 years, especially during the holidays when Chris hosted events for Chrome and Carol.
“He was the light of our lives,” Thompson said.
