(East Texas) – Four Christus Health hospitals in East Texas have received recognition from the Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization that assigns ratings to U.S. hospitals based on their ability to prevent medical errors and patient harm. Received the highest rating for medical safety.
Christus Mother Francis Hospital – Tyler, Mother Frances Hospital – Sulfur Springs, Good Shepherd Medical Center – Longview, Good Shepherd Medical Center – Marshall announced today Leapfrog’s latest national We received an A rating in the hospital safety survey.
“These achievements are a testament to the hard work our teams put in to do the right thing right every time while serving our patients,” said Chris Glennie, senior vice president of group operations for CHRISTUS Northeast Texas and North Louisiana. It means that our ministry has been duly recognized for our efforts.”
This year, CHRISTUS Health announced expansion projects that include a freestanding emergency room in Henderson, an acute care hospital in Palestine, and a multispecialty clinic in Sulfur Springs.
Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade surveys and grades approximately 3,000 participating U.S. hospitals. Results are updated each fall and spring and are based on more than 30 national performance measures, including obstetric care, critical care medicine, adult and pediatric elective outpatient surgery, drug safety, and complex adult and pediatric surgery.
Less than one-third of the nearly 3,000 rated hospitals received an A rating, according to Leapfrog.
“These grades are hard to get. If it were easy, everyone would have it,” Glenny said. “Having multiple Christian ministries earn A’s makes us extremely proud of the quality care we provide across our region.”
Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta and Christus Shreveport-Bodger also received A ratings.
