Texas Monthly, owned by Texas Monthly LLC, and the City of Grand Prairie have entered into a multi-year partnership to create special events celebrating Texans and Texas culture. These events include the official Texas Country Reporter Festival, the highly anticipated Texas Monthly Taco Festival and a new event for barbecue lovers. This collaboration not only brings Texas Monthly’s premiere event to North Texas, but also positions Grand Prairie for prominence as one of the state’s most popular tourist destinations.
Previously held in Waxahachie, the official TCR festival will move to downtown Grande Prairie in spring 2025 with a variety of vendors, food, music and featured entertainment.
“We are pleased to work with such a great organization and designate Grande Prairie as the new home for one of the province’s most anticipated events,” said Grande Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen. “Visitors from around the country will soon experience firsthand why Grande Prairie is being touted as the ultimate staycation destination.”
In addition to the TCR Festival, Texas Monthly will launch a new barbecue-centric event as well as a taco festival based on the magazine’s “Best Taquerias and Tacos” list by taco editor Jose R. Larratto at Epic Central in Grand Prairie. The state’s newest 172-acre entertainment district will feature an indoor water park, a Las Vegas-style water and light show, waterfront eateries, live music, playgrounds, a hotel, a convention center and an indoor family adventure park.
Epic Central is also home to the city’s Epic Arts & Music Festival, with Texas Monthly serving as media sponsor this year. The festival will take place Oct. 19 and 20, where fans of the Texas Country Reporter series will have the opportunity to meet the show’s new host, JB Sauceda, as well as some of TCR’s favorite vendors. The 53rd season of Texas Country Reporter will begin airing in September.
These events are just a few of the many upcoming festivals planned in partnership between Texas Monthly and the City of Grand Prairie.
“We’re excited to partner with Grand Prairie for years to come and create events that will bring Texas Monthly and Texas Country Reporter to life in a truly spectacular setting,” said Scott Brown, president of the multimedia company.
