Clearwater-based Dex & Dox, a 34-year-old marine construction and outdoor products company, has expanded its footprint to 43 locations with the acquisition of a Texas supplier.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the buyer was Houston-based Bayou City Lumber.
Bayou City will operate under the Dex & Dox banner and existing employees will continue to be employed, according to a statement announcing the deal.
Bayou City sells treated wood products, pilings, composite decking, seawalls and other outdoor construction products in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Established in 1994.
Dex & Dox CEO Sean Roberts said in a statement that expansion along the Gulf Coast and into the Texas market has been a long-time priority, and “we believe the Bayou City is an ideal location to do so.” We see it as a strong partner.”
Founded in 1991, Decks & Docks is a distributor of marine construction and outdoor living supplies. The company is known as a “one-stop shop” for contractors for complete composite decking, railings, pilings and vinyl seawalls, the statement said.
We currently operate a network of 43 facilities across 13 states and deliver both within the United States and internationally.
Late last year, New York private equity firm CCMP Growth Advisors partnered with Roberts and Dex & Docs president Tyler Wallace to acquire the company. When the transaction was completed, it was announced that both men “remain significant shareholders, with CCMP Growth acquiring the remaining shareholders and providing capital to enable management to execute its growth plans.”
Bayou City is the eighth location added since then.
This includes the acquisition in July of two outdoor building materials suppliers: Excelsior Lumber’s outdoor supply division in Butler, New Jersey, and Fence & Deck Direct in Baltimore, Maryland.
