Washington, DC – Congresswoman Monica de la Cruz (TX-15) announced the bipartisan passage of HR 7480, the Disabled Veterans Housing Assistance Act. This is her sixth bill to pass the House.
Dela Cruz’s bill, passed Wednesday, would ensure that service-connected disability payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs are excluded from income calculations when requesting assistance under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. It is something to do.
“Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our country, and this legislation removes barriers to housing assistance for people with service-connected disabilities,” Delacruz said. “This is about ensuring equity and access for our heroes.”
HR 7480:
Enhanced accessibility to housing: Veterans with disabilities can more easily qualify for housing programs. Promoting equity: Aligning the treatment of veterans benefits across the CDBG program. Providing Accountability: Requires reporting to Congress on how service-connected disability compensation is treated across HUD programs. Improve access for veterans.
“This is a victory for our veterans and a reflection of our country’s values,” said Congressman Dela Cruz. “I thank my colleagues for their support in advancing this important legislation.”
