Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins expressed satisfaction with the selection of the finalists, noting their exceptional qualifications and commitment to public service. The City Council Administrative Task Force is organizing three meet-and-greets for residents to meet candidates and discuss the future of Dallas. These sessions are scheduled for January 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Dallas City Hall, 3 p.m. at Singing Hills Recreation Center, and January 12, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Fretz Recreation Center.

William Johnson currently serves as Fort Worth’s assistant city manager, where he has overseen economic development, police, public events and the city’s water services since 2019. His previous positions include Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Public Works Commissioner for the City of Atlanta and Commissioner for the City of Baltimore. Transportation.
Mario Lara has been the Assistant City Manager for Public Safety for the City of Sacramento since May 2022, overseeing the Police, Fire, Emergency Management, and Community Response departments. He previously served as Director of Youth, Parks and Community Enrichment and has held leadership roles in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Kimberly Tolbert has served as Dallas’ interim city manager since May 2024 and previously served as deputy city manager. Her duties include oversight of aviation, communications and marketing, water utilities, human resources, and the Office of Homeless Solutions. Mr. Tolbert’s career also includes nearly 10 years as an executive with the North Texas Tollway Authority.
