Mickey and Minnie Mouse met with fans at South Texas Health System Children’s Hospital in preparation for ICE’s opening night performance at Hidalgo’s Payne Arena.
Patients and their families attended a special event on Tuesday, greeting the Disney on Ice star, according to a news release.
“Special activities like this Disney on Ice Character Visit are contributing to the children’s hospitals as they help improve the physical and emotional well-being of children admitted,” Kimberly Davis, Children’s Pediatric Administrator at STHS, said in a statement. “This special visit served as a pleasant distraction for our patients and their families, allowing them to relax and take their hearts out of hospitalization. It was clear that our patients could feel like they were, and in a stressful, unfamiliar place.”
During the competition and greetings held in the children’s playroom on the third floor, Mickey and Minnie Mouse interacted with the patients and their families, engaged in special activities and photographed key cakes.
Along with meeting patients in the playroom, Mickey and Minnie mice conducted bedside visits for patients who were unable to go to the playroom due to medical restrictions.
Disney on Ice will start on Wednesday, April 23rd at Payne Arena in Hidalgo and run until Sunday, April 27th. Tickets are available online.
