Texas Crime Stoppers and San Antonio Crime Stoppers are jointly offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
SAN ANTONIO — A retired FBI special agent stressed the importance of increased collaboration between the community and law enforcement after a Sonic murder suspect was added to the list of Texas’ 10 most wanted fugitives.
“Police often work with other law enforcement agencies, including federal agencies like the FBI and U.S. Marshals, especially when you have a fugitive who has crossed state lines,” said Abel Pena, who served as a special agent with the FBI for 26 years. “That’s when the FBI gets involved. It’s called a juvenile FAP warrant (unlawful flight to avoid prosecution). They can get federal funding to investigate suspects who have fled out of state.”
Adia Nahmir Roberson, 17, is wanted for the shooting death of Sonic manager Daniel Shrewsberry on July 7. She is charged with murder and forgery of a government document.
Police said the shooting happened at a Sonic restaurant near Babcock and Huebner streets after an argument began when Roberson allegedly stole $100 from the tip box.
“I think police are looking at everything holistically, especially the circumstances under which this person was involved in the crime and what happened. I think it’s a matter of urgency to find her,” Peña said.
In August, U.S. marshals arrested the alleged getaway driver, Joshua Albert Joseph.
Meanwhile, San Antonio police said Roberson may be located somewhere in the Austin area.
Roberson is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs approximately 110 pounds and has piercings in her nose, lips, face and eyebrows.
“If anyone knows anything about Mr. Roberson’s whereabouts, it is imperative that the community come together,” Peña said.
Texas Crime Stoppers and San Antonio Crime Stoppers are jointly offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to Roberson’s arrest.
