Galveston, Texas – A 46-year-old Texas City resident has been ordered to federal prison to own fentanyl with the intent to distribute.
John Earl Edwards pleaded guilty on September 24, 2024.

US District Judge Jeffrey V. Brown has now ordered Edwards to serve 156 months, and soon has been followed by three years of supervised release.
“It’s good to leave fentanyl from the street, but it’s even better to take a fentanyl dealer out the street,” Gandhi said. “This means few people make a living because of the misery of their fellow citizens.”
On July 22, 2021, Edwards negotiated the sale of a small amount of fentanyl and arranged for delivery on July 22, 2021.
Research revealed that Edwards’ drug distribution also contains cocaine, cocaine bases and methamphetamine.

He was permitted to voluntarily surrender to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility for decisions in the near future.
The FBI’s Safe Street, the Violent Crime Task Force and the LA Mark Police Department conducted the investigation. US lawyer Kenneth A. Cusic has indicted the case.
