The University of Florida has consistently been one of the best recruiting teams in the nation, producing classes in the nation’s top 20 in each of the past five seasons.
That trend looks set to continue in 2025, as the Gators did a great job flipping the four-star prospect off his contract in Texas. On Sunday, Joseph Mbacheo announced that he is indeed committing to the Gators.
“Go Gators,” the Loganville, Ga., native said in the announcement.

Mbacho is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 285 pounds. The talented defender is a star at Grayson High School and is rated a four-star according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The rankings also list Mbacheau as the No. 31 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 42 player out of Georgia.
The defender announced his commitment to the Longhorns on Nov. 23, having been with Texas for just one week. But Mbacho originally committed to the Gators in July and left in October. The prospect visited Florida in November.
Before deciding on a school, Mbachow had offers from Texas and Florida State, as well as USC, Michigan State, Auburn and LSU. With the addition of Mbacho, the Gators now have the No. 12 pick in the 2025 class. Mbacho is one of 11 four-star players currently on the Gators.
The early signing period begins on December 4th and ends on December 6th.
