One Denver Broncos coach spent some time in Texas this week. After attending Texas Pro Day, Broncos line of defense coach Jammer Cain reportedly remained in the area to attend the same Texas A&M event.
The Aggies have four prospects in the defensive line to attract Cain, and the three were predicted to go in the first three rounds. The two are in the top 50. Shemmer Stewart was the top prospect and we could hear his name in the top ten.
There are serious questions about Stewart’s love for the game and his lack of production. He was wearing streetwear for Pro Day after performing an athletic test at the NFL Scouting Combine last month.
So the team has no chance to put out Stewart, only raising concerns about their love for football. That means the NFL couldn’t see how fluid he was as a mover.
His concerns about fluidity have some missed opportunities for sacks by quarterbacks to avoid Stewart’s pass-rush attack. He only had 1.5 bags in each of his three seasons at Texas A&M.

While Nic Scourton of Texas A&M is Edge Defender, Cain is a defensive line coach for the Broncos, but works with all the pass rushes on the team, including external linebackers. So Cain can still provide insight into Schoolton’s training.
Schoolton is projected as the top 50 pick that can crack the second round. That may seem early, but 9News’ Mike Klis recently suggested that the Broncos may be looking for an edge defender on the No. 51 (Round 2) or the 85th pick (Round 3).
Schoolton moved to Texas A&M for the 2024 season after a 10-sack campaign at Purdue in 2023. Scowton won five sacks for the Aggies. He is a long, physical defender who can move around, and his tapes are full of his involvement in the plays. And he is a quality rand defender.
Shemmer Turner is another Aggies defender in the 3-4 defensive end mold that the Broncos can use due to pending contract situations with current veterans such as Zack Allen, John Franklin Myers and Malcolm Roach. There are some concerns about Turner staying cool on the field and there are some costly penalties for him, but he is physical and athletic. He is predicted as the second half of the third round.
The final player in Cain’s specialization is another 3-4 defensive side, Rodas Getachu Johnson. He didn’t see much of the field last season at Texas A&M. He played 223 snaps in total, but played over 400 snaps in 2022 and 2023 for the Wisconsin Badger.
Over these seasons, Getachew-Johnson scored a total of 23 pressures and two sacks, but was a stout run defender. He is predicted to be undrafted, but will become a free agent at a priority college.
