The big showdown between Texas and Georgia is another day closer and the SEC injury report is out again. That means new updates on some key players.
A key player to watch for Texas is wideout Isaiah Bond, who is on track to play. For the Bulldogs, all eyes will be on offensive lineman Tate Rutledge, who is questionable this week after undergoing ankle surgery earlier this season.

Rutledge was injured in Week 3 against Kentucky and underwent surgery the week after Georgia’s bye. The normal recovery period is approximately one month to six weeks, and Rutledge is currently on the cusp of a return to play heading into Week 8.
Head coach Kirby Smart shared an update on Rutledge’s status following the Bulldogs’ Week 7 win.
“He’s getting closer,” Smart said. “He’s running. He’s pushing on dry land. He’s got a custom-made orthotic. We keep hoping he gets better.”
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound lineman is one of Georgia’s most experienced forward linemen, having started 31 career games, including three this season. For his efforts in the 2023 campaign, Tate Rutledge was named a second-team All-American and first-team All-SEC.
Bonds was listed as questionable with an ankle injury earlier this week, but will likely be upgraded Thursday. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian shared promising news about the wideout on Wednesday, saying Bonds “practised pretty well today.”
The wide receiver has 21 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Both teams will have to continue to rely on their depth at running back, as they have a number of short- and long-term injuries at the running back position. The run game has been a key component to each team’s winning formula lately, and it will be a key element in Saturday’s game as well.
