Front Market has grown from a small meet-and-greet in 2016 to the first event at Waterloo Park with nearly 200 vendors.
Thousands of people in Central Texas spent the weekend supporting artists and small businesses across the state.
This fall, Front Market was held for the first time at Waterloo Park in downtown Austin.
Arts and culture nonprofit Future Front Texas produced the free two-day event on Saturday and Sunday. Focused on elevating the interests of women, LGBTQ+ creatives, and small business owners, the event featured over 175 vendors, a record for the event.
Front Market started in 2016 as a small meet-up for artists.
“When I think about the growth we have made, I think about how much our mission has become a reality, and how we come together to support artists, support creative spirits and culture, and support our We think about how we can actually connect with things that remind us why we do what we do. Living here reminds us why we belong and what we are a part of. I think beautiful things can happen,” said Jane, founding director of Future Front Texas. Harvey stated.
Starting this weekend, Harvey said people can support local artists and small businesses by shopping together this holiday season.
“Support local and shop small,” Harvey said. “No matter who you are, the small thing of bringing that kind of thinking into your daily life makes a big difference.”
She goes on to say, “Paying attention to and actively seeking out creative small businesses around you can help you connect with people. Go to public spaces, see who lives in your community, and create bubbles.” You will get out of it.”
Front Market will return in spring 2025.
