AUSTIN — First Lady Cecilia Abbott today announced that more than 5,300 wish lists for Texas children in foster care will be fulfilled through donations from state agency employees during this year’s Holiday Wish Program. In response, we celebrated the generosity of Texans serving Texans. Sponsored by the Governor’s Commission on Women and the Council of State Agencies and coordinated through the nonprofit Partnership for Children, the annual Holiday Wishes program targets foster care facilities in 31 counties in south central and south central Texas. We are helping to ensure that children in the United States have presents to open on Christmas morning.
“Every child deserves to know the promise of hope and joy that Christmas brings,” said First Lady Abbott. “There is no greater example of Texans helping Texans than providing support to Texas foster and adoptive families during the holiday season. It starts with the Nurturing Network, a community of organizations, businesses, members of the faith community, and anyone willing to open their hands, hearts, and homes to the children and families of our community. State child welfare systems. I thank the staff of the Governor’s Commission on Women, the Council of State Agencies, the Partnership for Children, and the 56 participating state agencies for generously providing a much-needed gift to children in foster care. I will. ”
The First Lady recently welcomed members of the Women’s Governors Commission and the Council of State Agencies to the Governor’s Mansion to celebrate the success of the Holiday Wishes Program and support children in foster care in the Central Texas region. We prepared gift bags for caseworkers.
