ARLINGTON, Texas — Ry Reid and Brayden Walters each scored three touchdowns to lead Gordon to a 70-24 victory over Whiteface in the Texas 1A Sixman Division 1 state championship game Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Stadium. led to defeat.
The Longhorns (15-0) repeated as Division 1 six-man state champions, winning the school’s fourth state title. With 9 minutes and 45 seconds remaining in the third and final quarter, the game was stopped due to the “mercy rule.”
Striker Reid threw two touchdown passes to Gordon and scored on runs of 12 and 45 yards. Ry Reed scored on two runs of 35 yards and one cover of 16 yards each.
Walters had three catches (all touchdowns) for 92 total yards.
Ethan Kaufman scored two touchdowns for Whiteface (14-1). One was a 2-yard pass from Isaac Soliz and the other was a 17-yard run.
