…The final report of the Texas New Reactor Task Force was released on Monday.
Earlier this week, Governor Abbott announced Texas’ plan to “build an advanced, world-leading nuclear industry to strengthen electric reliability and energy security, promote economic development, and unlock new opportunities.” announced the release of the final report of the Texas Advanced Reactor Working Group on For Texas’ growing workforce. ”
The task force views a state-of-the-art approach to nuclear reactor construction as a key element in strengthening Texas’ power grid.
“Today, we have a tremendous opportunity to build a world-leading, advanced nuclear industry that will provide safe and reliable power for generations to come,” Public Utilities Commissioner Jimmy Glotfelty said in a statement. “I did it,” he said. “The economic and policy recommendations we have outlined will spur swift action and help Texas become a leader in advanced nuclear energy.”
In August 2023, Mr. Abbott directed the PUCT to form a working group. In the more than a year since then, the group has developed key recommendations and strategies to place Texas in “No. 1” status. He is a leading expert in the advanced nuclear power industry. ”
