Gov. Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the city of Terrell, which has completed its multi-step training and certification process, has been designated by the Texas Film Commission as a film-friendly Texas accredited community.
“Congratulations to Terrell to have won the film-friendly Texas designation and joined more than 175 other Texas communities that received this recognition,” Gov. Abbott said. “Through the film-friendly Texas training and certification process, the Texas community is geared up to match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crews and local residents, and promoting local spending at local businesses. We would like to thank the Texas Film Commission for communities like Terrell for selling their own appeal and supporting local job creation through media production. Texas is full of promise, so we look forward to continuing to work with all communities to ensure the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.”

Terrell joins more than 175 film-friendly Texas accredited communities from across the state that receive continuous training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission on Media Industry Standards, Best Practices and ongoing training and guidance from how to effectively respond to location-based filming activities in the community.
For more than 50 years, the Texas Film Commission has helped local employment and economic growth by promoting Texas as a premier destination for film, television, commercials, animation, visual effects, video games and augmented reality production. The Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Department’s Texas Film Commission attracted more than $2.5 billion in local spending statewide from 2007 to 2024, creating more than 189,000 production jobs.
