The 402-acre project is a community by the Master Planning community near Josephine, Texas, and the East Plano Islamic Center.
Plano, Texas – Epic City is a master-planned residential and commercial project in rural Colin County that aims to be “a vibrant and inclusive community that caters to the evolving needs of the Muslim community.”
But it drew attention, criticism and apparently the rage of Gov. Greg Abbott.
The recently purchased 402-acre project, a long-standing project at the East Plano Islamic Centre, is scheduled to be home to the spectacular city, with the nearby land being announced as a location for the spectacular ranch, and additional fragmentation developed by the mosque has been announced.
The magnificent city north of Josephine near the intersection of County Roads 850 and 695, and it is a 1,000 homes, parks and recreational area surrounding the mosque and school, and is promised to “open ways to foster growth, promote meaningful connections and thrive for all who feed the Epic city.”
However, online last month, Governor Abbott raised rumors about Sharia Act that could potentially take part in the project.
“To be clear, Sharia law is not permitted in Texas,” he wrote to X.
“Governor Abbott, our vision is to build a diverse, safe and inclusive community where people of all backgrounds, faiths and cultures can live together in harmony. Not to mention obeying all local, state and federal laws, as with the rest of this great state.”
However, in a letter to Attorney General Ken Paxton on February 27, Jeff Leach “reports” that the Sharia Act could be part of the project, telling Paxton that “I believe your office deserves this issue.”
In a March 13 video on the Epic YouTube site, Epic resident scholar Dr. Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi confirmed the critics in conversations about community service and political activity.
“We know that on social media there are probably many negative campaigns against Epic, a particular Masjid,” he said in a presentation to members of the mosque. “Thanks to the grand city of our project. Right? And a lot of the far right is regaining hatred.”
Now, this week, Abbott and Paxton announced that “dozens of state agencies are investigating proposed developments claiming “serious legal issues.”
The Texas Funeral Committee has sent a ceasefire and abolition letter claiming illegal funeral services at the East Plano Islamic Center. In X, the governor wrote, “This is the tip of the iceberg… the proposed community will never see the light of day.”
On Thursday, representatives from Epic City did not respond to requests for comment. However, that X’s response to the governor last month invited him for further discussion.
“We hope you will look at the site and learn about our projects with some Hutchins BBQ.”
On Friday, the Texas Workforce Commission also announced that it would investigate Epic City to determine whether the Fair Housing Act is violating.
