Austin Governor Greg Abbott reaffirmed Thursday at the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Annual Leadership Summit in Las Vegas that Texas’ enduring and unwavering support for the State of Israel, its people and Israel’s right to self-defense as Israel continues its fight against the brutal terrorist organization Hamas. In his speech, the Governor also emphasized the need to restore Donald J. Trump to the Presidency of the United States so that America has a President who supports Israel.
“There are deep and enduring bonds between the people of Texas and the American and Israeli Jewish communities,” Governor Abbott said in a news release. “As the one-year anniversary approaches on October 7, Israel remains under constant threat. Last November, I visited Israel and witnessed the carnage caused by Hamas, the likes of which I have never seen before – sheer evil and brutality. One thing is certain: Israel is right and just in seeking to eliminate Hamas, and America must do all in its power to support Israel.”
Washington must be prepared to fight the spread of anti-Semitism, as we have done in Texas. We need leaders who understand the dangers we face. We need a president who supports Israel and will not jeopardize its future. We need Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. Trump will make it clear to the world that the U.S.-Israel alliance is once again a strategic foundation for our nation. A stronger Israel means a stronger United States. Together, we will continue to meet the challenges facing our generation and ensure that the United States remains a beacon of freedom to people around the world.
Speaking to a large crowd of Republicans and party activists, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas’ efforts to increase security and combat anti-Semitism across the state, including the anti-BDS legislation he signed into law, $10 million in grants to increase security for synagogues, and sending Texas Department of Public Safety troopers to college campuses earlier this year to enforce Texas law at anti-Semitic protests. The Governor also spoke about his visit to Israel following the October 7 terrorist attacks, recounting his visit to a hospital in Tel Aviv and his meetings with victims of a Hamas attack at a music festival.
