AUSTIN, Texas (KAUZ) – Governor Greg Abbott’s office celebrated Texas’ job economy following the release of the October jobs report.
The governor’s office said Texas employers added 274,600 nonfarm jobs in the past 12 months, giving Texas a higher annual rate of job growth than the nation.
Texas also hit record highs in the number of Texans working and the size of the Texas workforce, according to the Texas Governor’s Office.
“Meeting the changing needs of Texas entrepreneurs and businesses is paramount to ensuring continued job growth across industries. Invest in workforce development and career training to prepare a young and growing workforce for the workforce. More than 4 million Texans participate in these skills training programs each year, and by removing regulatory hurdles that burden Texas with small business and job growth, we We are building a bigger and better Texas for people.”

Texas has the largest workforce in the state’s history at 15,497,100 people, a record high.In Texas, the number of working Texans, including those who are self-employed, reached a record high of 14,858,700.Texas added 274,600 nonfarm jobs from October 2023 to October 2024, outpacing the nation in annual growth.Under Governor Abbott’s leadership, Texas has added more than 2.4 million jobs.
