Arlington, Texas – Repair companies and plumbers in northern Texas have been hit by a surge in calls as DFW slowly rises from the freezing temperature.
Pipes with a lot of bursts and leaks are common after deep freeze. Repair companies say they are supporting themselves for a busy weekend.
What they are saying:
Reuben Stocker is a lead mitigation technician at TRC Repair. He says work takes anywhere from an hour to five hours.
Stocker stopped to speak with the Fox 4 on a busy Friday as he and his business partner Matt Frank answered a call in Arlington.
“We have a dehumidifier, which is what draws moisture from the atmosphere,” he said.

But it was far from their first stop.
They stopped by Keller and Carrollton’s house.
“We had to pull out the water before we could understand the next step,” he said. “Yeah, this was a lot.”
The pipe bursts upstairs, causing the Carrollton family to stay at the hotel. Multiple rooms had standing water and ceiling damage.
In Frisco, the crew worked at Lone Star High School. The leak forced a temporary evacuation of students and staff. The district cleans the weekend.
What’s next:
Stocker says he hopes that TRC repairs will be fully booked this weekend.
“Tomorrow is a weekend for most people, but not for us. We’ll spend the day,” he said.

Stocker says he expects the daily temperatures to exceed 30 degrees on Saturday.
They know that homeowners have the potential to be harmed.
