Texas A&M’s spring 2025 football season officially began last Friday during its first open practice to the media. The weekend closure session continued, with the third practice taking place on Tuesday afternoon. After an A&M 1-4 finish, the new addition to the roster certainly regained some of Aggie’s loyalty in the offseason, highlighted by a lack of excitement from the fanbase after being unbeaten in SEC play last season.
Spring practice doesn’t turn your head due to lack of live tackle and gameplay. Until the Scrimmage and the final Maroon and White Spring Game take place, paying attention to areas of worry/weakness and looking for signs of progress during the 2024 campaign will tell more stories than some people think.
A month before the 2025 NFL Draft, three former Aggie defensive linemen could be selected in the first three rounds, led by Combine standout Shemar Stewart, followed by Nic Scourton and Shemar Turner. With their collective departure, coach Mike Elko added four veteran edge rushes from the transfer portal, but the depth of the interior defensive line remains an issue.
Still, Elko has time to add another piece or two deeper pieces to the D-Line via the Spring Transfer Portal before summer. Highlights from Texas A&M’s third practice focused on offense and defense, including the ongoing development of quarterback Marcel Reed and the launch of new wide receiver KC Concepcion, will be provided by 247 Sports Carter Callel and Austin American politician Tony Catalina.
