LSU faced a tough opponent Sunday afternoon against No. 8 team Texas.
Unfortunately, the Tigers missed out on a win, but they remained strong and confident throughout the match with the support of their teammates as they battled through each set.
In the second set, LSU sophomore volleyball player Journey Robinson (#5) stepped in and took the lead, contributing 36 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces, and 38 digs.
Journey Robinson was a big asset for the team in this game, and Bayley Ortega also had a big impact on the team’s offense. She expressed how proud she was of her teammates who made her job easier, especially considering her opponent’s high ranking.
“Our passers did a really good job today. I’d say they made our job easier. We were able to run the offense and strike out a few batters here and there, which was great. We have hitters and we have great people around us,” he told Ortega and the media.
After losing three straight games to fall to 8-5, Coach Johnson expressed pride in his team’s effort, but acknowledged there is still work to be done.
“I think the takeaway allowed our guys to play some good volleyball. We just have to keep it going for a long time,” Coach Johnson said.
You can watch the Tigers take on Mississippi State again on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Newell Grissom Building in Mississippi.
