December 3, 2024 — HOUSTON — Today, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials proudly announced $28,058,754 in 2025 education commitments and new funding in support of Texas youth and education programs. Rodeo’s 2025 education commitment will award $14.7 million in scholarships.
More than $9.7 million to Junior Show exhibitors, more than $3 million in educational program grants, and more than $481,000 to graduate assistant programs across Texas.

Scholarships include Houston Area Rodeo Scholars, Texas 4-H, Texas FFA, Achievement and Vocational Scholarships. In 2024, more than 800 scholarships will be awarded through the rodeo scholarship program. As one of the nation’s largest scholarship providers, Rodeo has awarded more than 22,000 scholarships totaling more than $305 million since 1932.

Education extends to the livestock show stage as well. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo supports Texas 4-H and FFA exhibitors at the world’s largest livestock show. Thanks to Rodeo’s generous donors, who also support exhibitor projects, participants are guaranteed premiums ranging from $2,200 to $75,000, depending on category. These exhibitors also include junior show participants attending the 2025 Houston Livestock Show, including Calf Scramble competitors. Since 1932, approximately $218 million has been provided to exhibitors through premium and calf scramble certificates.
Grants are awarded to 501(c)(3) charities and accredited institutions of higher education that align with Rodeo’s mission. Rodeo’s 2025 grant recipients include Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, NASA/Johnson Space Center, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Shriners University, Prairie View A&M University, Brookwood Community, Houston Children’s Includes Museum, Camp for All, and Boys. and Girls Club, Houston Grand Opera, Houston SPCA, Houston Zoo, Greater Houston YMCA, University of Houston Downtown Houston and many more. Since the first grant was awarded in 1990, Rodeo has contributed more than $92 million in research, grants and education programs to more than 100 organizations and institutions in Texas.
Funding will be awarded to graduate assistantship programs at 11 Texas universities, with each university responsible for administration and student selection. The 2024 winning universities include Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Sul Ross State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University – Commerce, and Texas A&M University – Includes Kingsville, Texas. University, Texas Tech University, West Texas A&M University. Since the 1970s, more than $16 million has been awarded to Texas’ graduate assistantship programs.
