Opponent: No. 16 seed SIU Edwardsville took part in the tournament for the first time in school history, beating southeastern Missouri 69-48 at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

Season Summary: Head Coach Buzz Williams will win at least 20 games with four straight wins and make his third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies won No. 1 Auburn, earning their first victory for a team ranked number one overall in the AP poll.
Watching Player: Dallas native Wade Taylor IV has won his first team All-Sec Conference Selection for his third consecutive season, following averaging 15.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
Opponent: No. 13 Seed Yale, one of the most physical teams in the country, created the tournament by winning his second Ivy League Championship.

Region: The third species of the western region
Season Summary: In his second season at Helm, manager Grant McCasland led the Red Raiders to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Watching Players: JT Toppin, like Hailey Vanlis, won Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and Player of the Year, and was the first team All-Big 12 selection. Toppin is available for selection in the upcoming NBA draft, but will be measured as a later pick in the round.
Opponent: North Carolina’s 14th seeded university Wilmington will appear in its first tournament since 2017 after winning the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association men’s basketball championship.

Region: 9th seed in the Eastern Region
Season Summary: The Dominant Home (13-3) team, the Bears, lost only three games at home during the season, but struggled a lot from Waco and won with just a win from the road (3-9) and neutral sights (3-2).
Player to monitor: VJ Edgecombe was the top pick expected in the 2025 NBA Draft and was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year for the Bears. Edgecombe averages 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists, and is looking to win Baylor for the second time since the Bears won the title in the 2021 season.
Opponent: No. 8 seed Mississippi, led by first-team all-sex selection Tolu Smith III, to lead the team to 32 rounds for the first time since 2008.
