This month, a weekly multi-agency immigration crackdown in the Houston area has arrested 646 illegal aliens, including 543 criminal aliens and seven documented gang members.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it had implemented operations between February 23rd and March 2nd, along with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to strengthen public safety, national security and border security.

Of the aliens arrested, 140 were charged or convicted of aggravated felony or violent crime, such as murder, aggravated assault or domestic violence.

Another 34 criminal aliens have been charged or convicted of sexual assault or child sex offences such as aggravated sexual assault of a minor, possession of child pornography, or rape.
ICE said 38 criminal aliens arrested have been convicted of illegal firearm crimes, including illegal transport of firearms, aliens carrying firearms and aggravated assault with firearms, while another 52 have been charged or convicted of crimes such as drug trafficking and criminal possession of controlled substances.

Fifty-one criminal aliens have been charged or found guilty of property crimes, and 93 have been charged with driving while drunk or found guilty of driving.
“In recent years, some of the world’s most dangerous fugitives, cross-border gang members and criminal aliens have taken advantage of the crisis at our country’s borders to illegally enter the United States,” Houston’s field office director ice enforcement and removal operations Brett Bradford said in a statement. “After entering the country illegally, many of these criminal aliens have committed violent crimes and have continued to control fears of law-abiding residents.”

The focus on large-scale projects was a special agent at ICE Homeland Security Survey (HSI) Houston Special Agent Chad Plants, who said collective efforts have made the Houston community significantly safer and strengthened the country’s national security and border security.
“In just a week working with counterparts in federal, state and local law enforcement, special agents at ICE HSI successfully executed 71 criminal arrest warrants and illegally made 554 administrative arrests, including human smugglers, gang members, human traffickers, child sex offenders, drug traffickers and weapons traffickers,” Plantz said. “The result has sent an overwhelming message to cross-border criminal organizations that the Texas Gulf law enforcement community is now more united than ever and that they will not rest until they eradicate these criminal elements.”
