Tweedy’s Bar opened its home-turned-bar in the former Spider House Cafe in late November. The bar has been offering drip coffee and cold brew, but the cafe is expanding its menu. The cafe menu offers espresso shots, lattes and cappuccinos, as well as a variety of teas including matcha, jasmine green and earl grey.

Pvolve, a functional fitness franchise with locations across the United States, opened its first Austin studio downtown in January. The local franchise is owned by Marcy Bain and her daughters. Bain said she likes that the workouts are sustainable for her and is excited to do it in Austin. Pvolve uses resistance-based equipment to target different muscle groups.

The Austin Symphony Orchestra will have a new CEO and executive director effective February 1. Justus Zimmerman will take on the role of leading Austin’s oldest performing arts group. Upcoming shows can be found on the group’s website.

After 42 years, the record store will leave its North Lamar Boulevard location after a long search for a new home after Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group purchased the site in 2019. Ta. Torquay’s Tacos
Torchy’s Tacos on Guadalupe Street near the University of Texas at Austin has permanently closed. The company did not renew its lease in November due to plans to change areas, according to a sign posted on the door days before the closure. Rising rents across the city were a contributing factor to the chain’s store closure plans, according to previous company reports.
