Egg prices are falling due to low demand

The USDA said the average wholesale price for the 12 large white eggs was 3.26 cents as of December 4th, a decline of more than $3 since the beginning of last month. Prices fell primarily due to low demand.

Texas Health and Wildlife officials have detected at least four mammalian species of avian influenza in six counties in the Texas High Plains. Among them are foxes, raccoons, skunks and cats.

The virus is highly contagious and has a particularly severe effect on the region.

In addition to about 2 million chickens gulling culls at Farwell’s Calmain Foods Factory, one of the largest egg producers in the United States, the region recorded the country’s first case of avian influenza in livestock last March. Since then, more than 40 cow heads in 17 states have tested positive for the virus. Also, checking mammal avian influenza during an ongoing outbreak was the earliest region in the state when a skunk tested positive in Carson County in March 2023.

Most recently, avian flu has been identified in mammals in the deaf Smith, Hansford, Lubbock, Ochilltree, Palmer and Randall counties, exacerbating the growth of the struggle against outbreaks in the region.

What is bird flu?

Avian influenza, also known as Avian influenza, is a highly pathogenic virus. Avian flu is already devastating US poultry flocks, driving egg prices to high prices, and has had a major impact on the agricultural industry.

The virus was first identified in infected waterfowl in southern China in 1996, but its recent surge began in Europe in 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In current strains, the virus initially affected large factory farms and backyard chicken flocks, leading to more than 168 million poultry culs. This far surpassed previous recordsets during the 2014-2015 outbreak, tripling the number of birds that culled (50 million).

Since arriving in the US in January 2022, the virus has also affected 12,875 wild birds.

Is avian flu a threat to humans?

According to the CDC, public health risks are currently at just 70 cases and a low risk of one death across the United States. At this point, there is no known spread from person to person.

Texas has had one confirmed case in humans since exposure to cows.

What are the symptoms of avian flu?

Symptoms of avian flu include:

Anorexia, swelling of absorbable symptoms without prior symptoms inflates the purple discoloration of the head and neck to the body part including the legs
