Austin, Texas – Texas field off-field, sophomore right-handed pitcher Teagan Bag is an artist holding a pencil in his hand. On a softball diamond at Red & Charline McCombs field on Friday night, Kavan was the artist who picked up softball as Texas made Texas 3-0 win.
Sharing this week’s honor with Tennessee’s Carlin Pickens, Bagban restricted volunteer attacks to two fewest hits in volunteer attacks since Arkansas hit two volunteers on March 24, 2025. And just six days after throwing a no-hitter in five innings, Kaban scored a no-hit in the sixth before surrendering a leadoff single to center field.
Kavan (18-2) hit at least two volunteer batters during each of the first four innings of the game, but recorded for her defense, including a 6-4-3 double play at the end of the inning, finishing a 6-4-3 double play at the top of the sixth in the final three frames.
Friday night’s outing in the circle was the first time Kavan has thrown seven full game shutouts against an SEC opponent, and it was Mark that she finished her second this season after running Baylor with seven frames on March 5, 2025.
When Kaban restricted the Tennessee attack, the Texas offense involved four consecutive base hits in the lower third to take a 3-0 lead.
From head coach Mike White
“She wasn’t a fantastic game tonight, but she was persistent and didn’t succumb to the big moments when (Tennessee) had a big hitter at the plate.
From Teagan Kavan, second grade
“It’s obviously not the cleanest (outdoors), but I feel like I wasn’t in control, but I was able to resort to the defenses behind me when I needed them the most. But most of the time, it worked.
Game Notes

Reese Atwood extended his winning streak in consecutive games with a run-scoring single at the bottom for the third time, reaching base for 23 consecutive times, tied Joey Mitchell for the longest base streak by Longhorn Softball student Artley this season. Texas softball head coach Mike White is the Tennessee state head coach, moving 5-4 against Tennessee between 40 acres and Oregon.
