In the first Top 10 matchup of the Kentucky season, Cats hosted the 3rd Texas Longhorns in what will be the book game at the Memorial Coliseum. In the first five and a half minutes of play, both teams each committed four fouls. Clearly, it’s certainly true. These teams were physical.
“The cat chased two, but Kentucky tied it down thanks to a fast break from Amoor, Georgia, to start the second. Thursday’s game was key. Yes, Kentucky brought it to absolute, but so did Longhorn. About two minutes later, the cat took the first lead the day after a layup from Teonni Key. Unfortunately, Key and Both Struck finished the second quarter early due to foul trouble. The forwards had two fouls, with half remaining over seven minutes, and not seeing the floor again until quarter 3 did.
Honestly, Texas struggled from the field, only shooting 7-22 (32%) off the field midway through the second quarter. However, the Longhorns were absolutely dominant on the board. Texas had overtaken “23-14 cats,” but 11 of them were aggressive. To win a game like this, Kentucky had to be physically lower, but that doesn’t happen without a strack or key. In half, Kentucky chased eight. By the third middle, the cat has followed 14.
Kentucky was abolished in every respect. Texas was more poised, but even more physical. ‘The cat cracked under immeasurable pressure and could not get anything from the boundary line (other than three threes by Dazia Lawrence). The game seemed to have ended before the fourth quarter began. With little time to correct their mistakes, the Wildcats needed an offensive rhythm and a miracle of rebounds.
Unfortunately, the deficit has grown, grown, and grown. Going in a third to a half minutes, the Longhorns rose 21 points, with Kentucky having few chances for a comeback. In just 10 minutes, the cat was 22 years old.
To begin the fourth quarter, Struck was immediately fouled out. She finished with zero points and three turnovers 0-1 from the field. Not her best game, that’s for sure. Nevertheless, she added the physical defence elements that Kentucky desperately needed. Despite this, the cat ran fast 10-0 to push the Longhorns into the timeout. Finally, it seemed like Kentucky had a life. Plus, it sounded like the roof might blow the Memorial Coliseum.
It was only 12 minutes and eight minutes, and Kentucky still had a chance. After a very unshiny performance, somehow the cat was back in the game and was approaching a top 10 victory. But as it felt like Kentucky was coming back, Texas scored, and Kentucky didn’t. “After some great possessions by the cat, the game fell apart again. So going on a Texas run ended up closing the Road victory. The Longhorns were the Kentucky 45- I overtook 28.
Georgia Amoor led the team from the field, finishing with 14 points on a 5-16 shooting and adding three assists. Teonni Key added 12 points 5-12 from the field and added 10 rebounds. The only other “double-digit cat was Dazia Lawrence, 11 points in a 4-9 shooting, and 3-2-6 points. The performance from Kentucky is undeniably low, but thankfully, ” The cat plays again on Sunday.
The Kentucky state (19-4, 8-3 seconds) tip-off against the Memorial Coliseum’s Georgia Bulldogs is set at 2pm on EST and can be viewed on SEC Network+.
