TEXAS — Former President Trump was hurriedly removed from the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday after what sounded like gunshots rang out through the crowd.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Chung said: “President Trump thanks the police and emergency responders for their swift action in response to this heinous incident. He is safe and is being examined at a local medical facility. More details will be provided in due course.”
Following the incident, many Texas lawmakers took to X to share their reactions to the incident.
“They’re trying to jail him. They’re trying to kill him. It’s not going to work. He’s indomitable,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.
“This is horrible, this is wrong and this is evil. Thankfully he does not appear to have been seriously injured,” Senator Ted Cruz said.
Senator John Cornyn said, “I pray for President Trump’s speedy recovery. I thank the United States Secret Service for their swift response to ensure the President’s safety. Those responsible must be brought to justice swiftly. Let us all pray for our country tonight.”
“Please join me in praying for President Trump, the members of the Secret Service, and all of you here at this rally today,” Rep. Michael McCaul said.
“An incident occurred at President Trump’s rally. President Trump was hurried off the stage by Secret Service. We ask that everyone pray for President Trump and for our country,” Lt. Governor Dan Patrick said.
