Book discussions about Olympus, Texas will be held at various locations throughout the library system at various dates and times in September, October, and November. The “Community Read” initiative concludes with a keynote address by Stacey Swan at the FBCL Annual Book Festival on November 16th.
Set in a modern-day rural Texas town that everyone knows, Olympus, Texas deftly weaves elements of classic Greek and Roman mythology into a story rich in drama and psychological complexity. It’s a completely modern family story.
When prodigal son March returns from two years of self-imposed exile after being caught sleeping with his brother’s wife, he receives little welcome and the Brisco family once again becomes the talk of the town. Within days of his arrival, someone dies, conflicts flare up, secrets explode, and marriages are turned upside down. When powerful personalities clash, even the strongest alliances are shattered.
