Lake Mary, Florida Little League used a five-run rally to take a lead in the sixth inning and defeat Vaughn, Texas, 10-7 to win the 2024 Little League World Series U.S. Championship Game. Florida was down 4-0 early in the game, but then withstood a three-run rally from Texas to regain control of the game and then scored five more runs to take control of the game.
Texas led 4–0 after the first three innings and held Lake Mary hitless for three innings, but Chris Chichodoroff got Florida’s first hit of the game and JJ Feliciano scored the first run with an RBI single in the fourth inning. However, Texas scored three runs and Texas pitcher Doc Mogford was injured on the play. Cole Newson took over but made a costly error as he turned his back after striking out Hunter Alexander.
A distraction from Newson allowed Teraj Alexander to steal home plate to give Florida a 5-4 lead. Texas retook the lead 7-5 in the seventh inning to seal Florida’s comeback victory.
Landon Bono walked to load the bases, and DJ Mises, Jacob Bibeau and Liam Morrissey scored the tying run to keep Florida going, before Luis Caro smashed a double to right-center field to give Lake Mary the lead, with Morrissey coming in as a pinch-runner to give them a 10-7 lead.
Lake Mary then sealed the victory with a double play to first base, and Caro grounded out Aidan Munoz to thwart Texas’ final try and advance to the World Championship Round.
Florida will face Chinese Taipei in the world championship on Sunday, which defeated Venezuela 4-1 to win the international championship on Saturday.
