Family, friends, community members and businesses all lacked funds for Kelsey McCaffetty.
ROGERS, Texas – The Central Texas community is coming together to help a young girl who lost her family in a car accident on March 31st.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Conor McCafféti, 16, Clint McCafféti, 43, and Meghan Nicole McCafféti, 39, died after the vehicle was attacked in a cargo compartment.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, community members have come together to help the family’s daughter, ninth grade Kelsey McCaffati.
“Everyone helped us get through this tough time. We couldn’t have done it without you,” Meghan’s twin sister, Jenna Brand, told 6News.
At an auction held by the Milum County Livestock Auction on April 4th, Central Texans raised $180,000 for Macafeti.
The Milum County livestock auction was auctioned off from Charlois Crosssteer, donated by Davis and the Childress family in a fundraiser. Every time a steer was sold, it was returned to auction and sold again. After the final sale, Steer was donated again, this time to his own Macafeti.
“We are very grateful for the love of our community, our friends, our families and all the people we have never met before,” Brand said.
The brand thanked everyone who gave and showed support for their families.
“We just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Brand said.
Those who still want to donate can do so at Buckholtz State Bank in Rogers, Texas.
