The man responsible for the crime that shocked Texas when authorities issued a Blue Alert early on a Friday morning in early October has finally been arrested.
Fort Worth police located and arrested Seth Michael Altman, who is charged with attempted capital murder against a peace officer, in Memphis, Texas, on Friday, October 25th.
Altman was added to Texas’ list of 10 most wanted fugitives after he allegedly shot Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant multiple times and fled on foot on Oct. 3. He fired at the police chief.
Altman had been on the run for more than three weeks with a $10,000 bounty on his head when Fort Worth police took him into custody near the 1300 block of East Lancaster Avenue Friday around 4:57 p.m.
“Thanks to the cooperation of FWPD and other law enforcement agencies, the arrest was made without incident,” the department tweeted.
Altman was booked into the Tarrant County Ron Evans Correctional Center and is being held on $1 million bail, according to Tarrant County public records.
“The success of this operation affirms the commitment of Texas law enforcement agencies to pursue and apprehend fugitives who pose a threat to public safety,” the department added. “The Fort Worth Police Department remains committed to keeping our communities safe and will continue to work with state and local partners to ensure justice is served.”
