The City of McAllen and McAllen Crime Stoppers will hold their annual Turkey Meal Giveaway on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 9 a.m. at the McAllen Police Department, 1601 N. Bicentennial Blvd. A Thanksgiving meal will be provided to participating families. Families in the McAllen area will be pre-selected by McAllen Independent School District counselors and teachers and the McAllen Police Department.
The McAllen Crime Stoppers raised funds from the community for this special event, and with their modest funds, they purchased Thanksgiving turkey dinners for approximately 250 families.

As of Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, a police department’s traffic enforcement officer may choose to hand out a turkey in lieu of a traffic ticket.
This turkey giveaway was designed as a gesture of goodwill during this special holiday.
The McAllen Police Department always, and during this special and important time, urges all motorists to ensure maximum driver safety.

McAllen Crime Stoppers is volunteering to help citizens anonymously tip or tip a fundraiser. It’s a citizen group that’s doing this,” said Police Chief Victor Rodriguez. “We are very proud to be a part of this and are very pleased to provide the leadership of the Crime Prevention Commission to make this a reality.”
